(Vilalba, 1947-2016) He was one of the best known and most valued children's and Young adults' literatura writers of Spain. He is the writer of more tan 50 titles. His books, written in Galician, are regularly translated into the other Spanish languages: Castilian, Catalan and Basque. Several titles have also been translated into Portuguese, Korean, English, Italian, Bulgarian, Chinese, French and Arabic. His books have received several awards: Lazarillo, Edebé Young Adult Literature Award, Barco de Vapor, Merlín, Portagonista Jove, Edebé Children's Literature Award, Rañolas, Raíña Lupa, Martiño Sarmiento, Xosé Neira Vilas, among others. He has been twice recognized as the best Galician autor of the year (2004 & 2007). In 2008, his book "O único que queda é o amor" (Nothing Really Matters in Life More tan Love) received the National Children's and Young Adults' Literature Award given by the Spanish Ministry for Culture. In the international field his four nominations for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013) stand out, behind his candidatura to the 2012 Andersen award. Three of his Works were includde in the IBBY Honor List in 2010, 1992 and 2002. In 2011 he obtained the Iberoamerican Award for Children's and Young Adults' Literature in recognition of his literary career.
