Daniel Hernández Chámbers was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife into a Spanish-British family. He is an engine driver on the Alicante tramway and a writer of children's and young adult literature, with around fifty published works. In 2012 he won the Leer es Vivir Award for his novel Un fragmento de noche en un frasco, followed by the Ala Delta, in 2016, for El secreto de Enola; the Alandar, in 2017, for Miralejos; the Vila d'Ibi, in 2018, for La chica que coleccionaba sellos y el chico que esperaba un tren; and the Algar, in 2019, for Un sombrero anda suelto.
