Pilar Mateos
Pilar was born in Valladolid in 1942. She has worked as a script-writer for radio and TV, including children's programmes. Pilar has written many novels for children and young readers having received several important awards such as the Premio Lazarillo and the Premio Edebé de Literatura Infantil for "Gata García".
Furthermore, her work on the radio has been highly awarded.
In 2009, she was honoured with the prestigious Award Cervantes Chico, the Children’s and Young Adult category of Cervantes prize. This award honours the recipient’s overall body of work and is therefore regarded as a sort of Spanish-language Nobel Prize in Children's & Young Adult 's Literature
