Roberto Aliaga was born in the village of Argamasilla de Alba in the centre of Spain in 1976. He is one of the most published and valued Spanish children’s authors. He received the 2017 Premio Barco de Vapor (Spain), the International Latino Book Award (USA), in 2014 and 2016, the Gelett Burgess Children’s book Award (USA) and the Independent publisher Book Award (USA) both in 2013, the 2008 Lazarillo Award (Spain) for a picture album and was on the shortlist for the 2009 White Ravens list (Germany). His books have been published in English, French, Italian, Arabic, Japanese, Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese, Polish, Valencian, Basque, Dutch, Brazilian, German and Turkish so far.
